Mr. Claude Therrien
Physical Education - Kindergraten – 4, 6 & 7
Mr. Claude Therrien is an award winning educator who has taught Physical Education and French for the past 13 years. Mr. Therrien received his Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Laval in Quebec. He comes to us from the Maple Ridge School District where he has been the District PE Coordinator as well as a teacher of French as a Second Language to Grades 4 to 7. In 1999, Mr. Therrien was the Young Professional Award winner of the Canadian Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, B.C. Division and in 1996 won the George Longstaff Award (Innovative Teacher of the Year) from the Physical Education Provincial Specialist Association of BC. He is the inventor of Bounceball, a cooperative sport, and is the author of an instructional manual with accompanying video for the game. Mr. Therrien is a sought after Physical Education presenter for conferences and workshops at both the local and provincial level. He has extensive coaching experience and is excited by the prospect of developing winning teams and athletes at Aspengrove.
