On November 24 a group of Diploma Program (DP) science students travelled to Richmond to compete in the annual Kwantlen Science Challenge.  This was a five event tournament that consisted of three science labs – one in each of biology, chemistry, and physics – a science trivia competition, and an engineering challenge. The Aspengrove team had a noteworthy performance in the latter, placing 5th in the province. The goal was to create a two-fan battery powered hovercraft that would travel 3.5 meters as fast as possible. The Grade 11 and 12 students created a vehicle that ran this course in just over 1.52 seconds.

The team hopes to compete again in a similar event run by UBC in the spring.
