The grade 7 class trains for approximately eight weeks swimming, biking and running, in preparation for their annual triathlon as part of the Aspengrove School PE program, completed today. They complete the swim portion of their triathlon in a local pool before concluding the even with the cycling and running portion on campus. In total the young athletes complete a 300m swim, 10km bike on a local paved trail beside the school and a 3km trail run right on campus. Every student in the grade completed the event – a tremendous accomplishment! Each one can be proud of what they have done from the very first day of training through to the end of today’s race. They will have each learned a great deal about themselves and can walk away (stumble? stagger? – it’s a tough race!)  confident that they can take on bigger challenges than they ever imagined.

Each year a number of Aspengrove students choose to take part in the annual Qualicum Beach triathlon in June – a great sign that triathlon is a growing sport in all grades at AGS where we truly live by the words: Aspire, Grow, Succeed!
