We have begun preparing for the building of the new Athletic and Activity Centre. The site has been cleared and the remaining scraps are being carted off site this week. It’s exciting to see the transformation and to imagine what lies ahead in the weeks and months to come.
We have built on a community partnership with Vancouver Island University and the brush and other waste removed from the site will be used at their facility for training Heavy Equipment Operators. This saves Aspengrove in duping fees while providing valuable materials for student training.
Next Friday, the last day of school before Spring Break, the builders will arrive on site to “mobilize” erecting fencing, trailers and other facilities they need to begin their work. During spring break more preparations will continue as we re-route some underground services to make the site fully accessible for building. We anticipate that construction will be able to commence at the end of the month!
